Bird Repellant Solution

Turf Sheild is a bird repellant, that is very effective on any type of bird that eats or pecks at grass, sand or gravel, although Turf Sheild is not selective to the type of bird it will repel, the product was designed with Geese as it's primary target.

Turf Sheilds active ingredient is the artificial flavoring that is used in grape Kool Aide, grape bubble gum and grape popsicles. Geese and other birds are repulsed by the taste of this product.

Geese are very territorial, many people are not aware that the geese that they have come back every year are the same geese and their off spring. Since the same geese come back every year, they can be trained to stay out of specific areas, such as beaches, picnic areas and back yards. Once the geese have tasted the grass, sand or gravel, in the areas that you have sprayed with this product, they will not come back to this area to dine.

Application

Turf Sheild is applied at the rate of 2 gallons per surface acre for the first treatment and then 1 gallon per surface acre for following treatments. Before applying this product to grass, the grass should be cut, the grass then should not be cut for at least a week. Once mixed with water the solution should be mixed well and spread as evenly as possible over the area to be treated. Turf Sheild should be applied when the geese are present, since the product is only active for a couple of weeks. Before spraying Turf Sheild is diluted with water, using a hand sprayer the dilution is 20 - 1, using a hose end sprayer use the 10-1 setting, boom applications are done at a 60 - 1 dilution.

Many times it is not necessary to treat an entire area that you wish to keep the birds out of, geese normally come out of the water and immediately start eating the grass or pecking at sand or gravel, a band of about 50- 100 feet from the waters edge, can discourage the geese from going further towards your residence or buildings.

Safety

Turf Sheild is a food grade product and is safe for use around humans, pets and all forms of wildlife.Turf Sheild will not even harm the geese even though it will repel them. Although the product is considered safe, normal safety measures, when applying the material should still be taken.
