Wild Celery
aka: Tape Grass & Ellgrass
(Vallisneria americana)

Description
Roots buried in mud with tufts of ribbonlike, flaccid leaves. Horizontal stem system connecting tufts of leaves. Flower is visible late in the summer supported by coiled stalk. Commonly found in fresh water from the Grat Plains east to the coast.

Note: Ellgrass is a very difficult plant to control, however it very seldom creates a problem in ponds and lakes, this plant in almost all cases is considered a very beneficial plant.
